Sam Altman shared that when image generation launched, ChatGPT gained 1 million new users in a single hour. Compare that to 5 days when the product first launched. The demand is staggering. But here’s the problem — Studio Ghibli spent decades mastering that style. Those artists earned zero from any of it.

I keep coming back to Jeff Booth’s book The Price of Tomorrow. His argument is simple: technology makes everything cheaper, eventually driving prices toward zero. AI accelerates that process dramatically. But our monetary system is built on inflation. You work hard, maybe earn a 5% raise — meanwhile assets appreciate 20%, 50%, 100%. The gap keeps widening. If you only sell your time, you can never catch up. Creators, knowledge workers, designers — we’re all on that hamster wheel.

The answer isn’t to work harder. It’s to own an asset that generates revenue for you. To stop being just a creator and start thinking like a founder.
