Arkade - A Virtual Execution Layer for Bitcoin-Native Applications
Bitcoin’s minimalist design brought us unmatched security, but limits programmability. Arkade builds on the Ark protocol, but extends it into a full virtual execution layer that unlocks Bitcoin contracts and scalable financial applications without requiring consensus rule changes to the base layer.
By virtualizing UTXOs into programmable outputs (VTXOs), Arkade enables parallel offchain execution and instant pre-confirmed value transfers with flexible onchain settlement. Bitcoin opcodes get extended with additional primitives for introspection and arithmetic into Arkade Script which lets developers build smart wallets, lending protocols, and native Bitcoin markets, while users maintain unilateral exit control to Bitcoin L1 at any time.
This talk will introduce Arkade’s core architecture and show how virtualization can transform Bitcoin into a platform to unlock Bitcoin as Programmable Money, while preserving its security guarantees.
