Eric Weiss

Eric S. Weiss is the Founder and Chief Investment Officer of Blockchain Investment Group LP (BIG). A graduate of the University of Maryland, Mr. Weiss launched his career as a proprietary US Government bond trader at Morgan Stanley Dean Witter. After earning an MBA from Columbia Business School in 1998, he joined GE Equity, the private equity and venture capital arm of GE Capital, where as a Director, he focused on investments in the internet business-to-business sector. During his time at GE Capital, he was instrumental in GE’s investment in Internet Capital Group (ICG), where he also served as Director of Investments. In addition to leading multiple investments, Mr. Weiss represented the firm on the boards of several portfolio companies. Following the internet bubble of 2001, Mr. Weiss co-founded Stripes Group, a private equity firm where he sourced and negotiated its inaugural investments. Mr. Weiss currently serves on the Board of Directors of Core Scientific (NASDAQ: CORZ). In December 2013, Eric made his first investment in Bitcoin and played a pivotal role in educating Michael Saylor on the asset, ultimately influencing Saylor’s embrace of Bitcoin.
