Giovanni Santostasi
Director, Scientific Bitcoin Institute
Giovanni Santostasi is an astrophysicist and the Director of the Scientific Bitcoin Institute (SBI), a research nonprofit dedicated to the rigorous quantitative study of Bitcoin. He is best known for discovering the Bitcoin Power Law — the empirical scaling relationship that has described Bitcoin’s price across more than four orders of magnitude and fifteen years of on-chain history — and for being among the first to argue that Bitcoin’s growth belongs to the same mathematical family as the laws governing earthquakes, neural avalanches, and critical phase transitions.
He is the author of The Physics of Bitcoin, which develops this framework from first principles using statistical physics, the renormalization group, and fifteen years of empirical data. Originally trained in gravitational-wave astrophysics and computational neuroscience, he holds a Ph.D. in physics and divides his time between San Diego and Torino, where SBI maintains its European office.

From Physics to Price: The Power Law as Bitcoin's Valuation Model
Over 16 years, Bitcoin's price has tracked a remarkably tight power law — the same mathematical pattern that governs city growth, biological scaling, and network phenomena in nature. This talk shows how power-law dynamics provide a rigorous, falsifiable framework for valuing Bitcoin, turning long-term price analysis from speculation into science
